Well known magazine so the the consumer doesn’t necessarily have to see the full title of the magazine because they already know

Setting gives us this very serious vibe. The use of black and white being quite modern and expensive.

Wardrobe relates to the selling line.Attire is very similar gives this idea formality, like a business transaction.

Intended audience are people who are into their hip hop and rnb.

Positioned in order of rankings, Diddy being position in front with his hands crossed to give this boss like structure. The man is then position to his right, like his right hand man but is still behind him, giving him slightly more authority than the woman standing at the back. This idea of this woman being controlled by these and even like they are ruling over her. She is too her side like she barely fits or she hasn’t enough authority for people to know who she is yet.

Cover lines are relating the audience to another issue of the magazine to draw you in before you have even purchased it, wetting their taste buds with two well known artists drawing the consumer into knowing what is new

Thursday 3 February 2011

I decided to create a school magazine that would represent the students of Negus. I looked at the different characters
within the college and found that there are a wide varities of characters within, but they all seem to get knit in teams of
supporting each other, hence the name 'COLLEGE CONNECTION' from this name i looked at this that connect
and came across the link of a bracelt of necklace and decided to incorpate this into my name, as you can see in the 'O'. I wanted this first issue to focus on the move from Plumstead Manor to Wickenham Lane, but wanted to represent my idea of hearing what the student have to say, so i used quotes to make the page stand out and very little text to keep the students informed but interested at the same time.

How does the magazine you have studied construct and reflect its intended audience

Plumline come across as a very formal magazine, the title font looking fairly formal yet slightly playful, connoting a friendly vibe yet still giving off that serious side. The achievements that are placed underneath the title leave us with a sense of trust, by seeing the different subjects that the students participate in the intended audience have some knowledge into the institute and their background.
To me the magazine appeals to parents, prominently aimed at the mother figure of the family due to the brightly coloured background ranging from pinks to yellows to greens, spreading out throughout the different subjects. This use of colouring can also relate to the release month of the issue being in July, the use of summery colours relate to this thought of excitement and happiness almost which also relates to the achievements that the students have made throughout the articles.
The pictures that are integrated within the articles makes the audience be aware, it is almost like a way of updating the ‘home front’ of the things that are going on within the school, by using the pictures it may also intrigued the students, maybe with them wanting to see if they are in the magazine or even to see if their name has been mentioned.
In terms of reflecting its intended audience I believe that this magazine expresses it well. It enables the parent to be apart of their child’s school life and will inform them of the different things and developments that are happening within and around the school so that they are aware.
Even the magazine itself isn’t that big also symbolises its relevance, it isn’t a magazine for lounging around the house with it solely acts as a source to keep the home up to date with the changes or achievements made.

Kerrang Magazine
The dark background of the article gives the reader an inkling into what the genre of the magazine is, rock normally being signified through dark colours.
The red outline stands out to us, as it regularly shows danger, making us curious of who these people are and what they have to say. The shattered pictures and the canted text shows us how unpredictable these artists are and therefore we are drawn into what they are talking about.
The main headings not only stand out because of their formatting, but also because of what is actually being said, ‘1 big ball-sack’ and ‘bigger balls than an elephant’ the crude titles, work as the comedy of the article and once again makes the audience tempted to know what is actually going on, therefore, they feel entitled to read the whole article.

Vibe Magazine
In contrast to the rock magazine the Rnb double page spread is fairly contemporary, keeping a neutral black, white and grey theme throughout the article. This gives the idea of Rnb and Hip Hop being modern and new and therefore the most fashionable thing at the moment.
Adding to this idea we are shown a ‘barbie doll’ like picture of ‘Solange Knowles’ giving us this idea of perfection and beauty.
The use of text colour allows the reader to associate the texts to one another for example, ‘Now’ and ‘Solange Knowles’ catches the reader’s eye. The use of the smaller pictures, show the reader the different personalities that she has and therefore allows the audience to relate to these pictures more, than the perfect image we are given in the forefront of the page.

NME Magazine
The article automatically draws
the audiences eye to
the artist, Florence,
do to her bright red
hair and her black costuming, standing
from the contemporary
background, very
similar to Vibe magazine.
The colour of her
hair and the colour
of the flag show a direct correlation
between the two. The way in which Florence is positioned gives us the idea of her being a conqueror over America, therefore giving us another correlation to the title which says: USA got the love. The play on words that are used in her song tell the audience of her success in the USA. The use of colour in Florence’s appearance but nowhere else in the article, gives the idea of Florence being the colour of America not and even owning it.
